Billing intervals

Monthly vs annual billing, switching between them, and how Stripe handles invoices.

Monthly vs annual#

Both Professional and Office support two billing intervals:

  • Monthly — billed every 30 days. Most flexible; cancel any time.
  • Annual — billed once per year at a discounted rate.

Annual is what most firms eventually move to once they're past the trial — it costs less per user and reduces invoicing overhead.

Switching intervals#

You can switch between monthly and annual at any time from the billing page. The change takes effect at the start of the next billing period.

If you upgrade from Professional to Office mid-cycle, Stripe prorates the charge — you only pay the difference for the remaining time in your current period.

How Stripe handles invoicing#

All billing in Vellum runs through Stripe. Invoices are generated automatically; receipts are emailed to the billing email on your subscription.

From the in-app billing page you can:

  • View your current plan, interval, and next invoice date.
  • See your past invoices, with status (Paid, Failed, Pending, Refunded).
  • Update your payment method (card or SEPA Direct Debit).
  • Switch interval or upgrade your plan.
