Link a client to the portal

Steps#

1. Open the client

   From the clients page, click the client you want to link. Make sure their email is set — that's the address the invite goes to.

2. Enable portal access

   Click "Send portal invite" (or the equivalent toggle). Vellum creates a portal login with their email and emails them a temporary password.

3. Share the portal URL

   If the email doesn't reach them, you can also send the portal URL manually — they sign in with the email and temp password, and are prompted to set a new password on first login.

What the client sees#

Once linked, the client can sign in to the portal and see only their projects:

• Each project's current stage and the history of stage transitions.
• Files marked as visible to clients.
• Events they were added to as an attendee.

They can't create or edit anything from the portal — it's strictly read-only. To unlink, remove the portal login from the client record (reach out to support if you don't see a UI for this).
