Setting up your firm
Set up your firm after signing up: your profile and organisation, plan and trial, offices, and bringing your employees into the workspace.
When you pick "Office / Independent" at sign-up, Vellum asks only for what it needs to get started. Everything else — address, NIF, phone — can be completed later in the company settings.
1. Your profile and organisation
Enter your first name, last name and your organisation's name (your studio or firm). If you work on your own without a registered company, tick "I don't have a company registered" and continue with just your own details — you can add a company later. Every project, client and employee on the account belongs to this company.
2. Your plan and the free trial
Your plan is the one you picked when creating the account. Free never expires and needs no card; Core and Professional start with 14 days free, also without a card, with full access to the plan you chose. The Free trial page explains what happens at the end.
3. Offices
Every project belongs to an office, so the company starts with one already. You can rename it and complete its address in the admin area. Having more than one office is a Professional-plan feature.
4. Adding employees
Employees sign up themselves, choosing "Employee", and get a 6-digit code valid for 4 hours. When they send you the code, open the Employees page, click "Add Employee" and enter it. On the Core and Professional plans, every employee you add counts as a seat.
After setup
Once setup is done you land on the home dashboard: today's overview (today's events and upcoming deadlines, including overdue ones) and the projects blocked in review. From there you can configure project types, add clients and create your first project.
If you chose Core or Professional, the 14 free days count from the day you create the account. To keep going after that, subscribe on the billing page — or switch to Free.
