Storage & limits

How storage is counted, the per-plan caps, and what happens when you hit them.

File storage#

File storage is tracked per subscription. Vellum sums the size of every file across all your projects' stages, regardless of which storage backend (DigitalOcean Spaces or Autodesk Revit Cloud) you've configured.

Per-plan caps:

  • Professional — 10 GB.
  • Office — 100 GB.
  • Enterprise — Unlimited.

Members & projects#

Plans also cap your team and active project counts:

  • Professional — up to 5 team members, 50 active projects.
  • Office — up to 25 team members, unlimited projects.
  • Enterprise — unlimited members and projects.

An active project is one that isn't in the `Concluded` state and hasn't been soft-deleted. You can keep using Vellum forever even after you've concluded everything — finished projects stay accessible.

What happens when you hit a limit#

When you reach a limit:

  • Storage cap. New uploads are blocked until you free space (delete files) or upgrade.
  • Team cap. New employee invitations are blocked. Existing users continue working.
  • Project cap (Professional). Creating a new project shows a paywall; concluding or soft-deleting an old one frees a slot.

All limits are soft from a data-loss perspective: nothing is deleted, you just can't add more until you upgrade or free up.
