Create a client
Adding a customer record so you can attach projects to them.
Required fields#
Only the client name is strictly required. Everything else is optional but realistically you want at least an email and a NIF for invoicing.
Steps#
Open the dialog
From the clients page, click "Add client".
Enter the basic details
Name, email, phone, and address. The address fields are free-text; Vellum doesn't validate them.
Enter the NIF
Up to 9 characters. See below for the validation rules.
Optionally, link to the portal
If you want the client to log in to the portal, tick the "Send portal invite" option. The system will create a Firebase user and email the client a temporary password. You can also enable this later.
Save
On save, the client is created and you're back on the listing.
NIF format#
Vellum stores fiscal numbers as up to 9 characters. The full Portuguese check-digit algorithm is not enforced — that means a typo won't be caught at save time, but a number that's too long will be rejected.
If you don't have the client's NIF yet, leave it blank and add it later. You won't be able to invoice them through the integrated billing flow without it.
