Autodesk integration

Use your Autodesk Revit Cloud account as the storage backend for stage files.

Enterprise

What it does#

By default, Vellum stores stage files on DigitalOcean Spaces. The Autodesk integration replaces that backend with **Autodesk Revit Cloud**, so your team's files live where the rest of your Autodesk workflow already does.

Once configured, every file uploaded through Vellum lands inside an Autodesk hub, project, and folder you map at the company level. Vellum stores only the metadata reference; the file itself stays in Autodesk's storage.

Setup#

Setup requires:

  • An Autodesk account with admin access to a hub.
  • A user with `permission_level = ADMIN` on the Vellum side to authorise the connection.
  • About 10 minutes.

From the Vellum admin area, open the Autodesk page and click "Connect". You'll be redirected to Autodesk to authorise; on return, you map a default Autodesk project + folder to act as the destination for new uploads. After saving, all subsequent uploads go to Autodesk.

Limitations#

A few things to know:

  • Switching is not retroactive. Files uploaded before the switch stay on DigitalOcean. Vellum doesn't migrate them.
  • One backend at a time. A company is on either DO Spaces or Autodesk, not both.
  • Plan tier. This integration is part of the Enterprise tier; contact sales to enable it.
